VersaText is a new web-based tool for learners of English to explore the language of a single text.

The basic steps:

• paste a text into the frame on the VersaText homepage.
• click the Word Cloud button to see a word cloud.
• click a word in the Word Cloud to see it in concordance lines.
• click the Profiler button for information about the words in the text.
• More details about each of these steps can be found under each of the tabs here.

VersaText was created by James Thomas and Vít Baisa. James Thomas, the author and/or editor-publisher of  the books on this website, has been using word clouds, Concordle and Vocabulary Profiler with his students and teachers for many years. He also uses SkELL extensively with teachers and students. Vít Baisa, the main programmer of SkELL, offered to bring James' dream of combining and extending Concordle and Vocabulary Profiler to life.

Step 1: make up your mind about the specialist field you wish to focus on: business, tourism or international communication? You can further restrict the field; for instance, if you choose tourism, you might decide to focus on "online marketing", "customer care" or "sustainable tourism".

Step 2: surf the web for the sources and software you need to include in your report. You may start your search from these websites:

Step 3: write your report, checking against the Evaluation Rubric (see the section "Evaluation")

Step 5: read the other students' reports to make comparisons with your work and to get ideas; optionally, respond to their postings.

Step 6: read your tutor's feedback and make all necessary changes to improve your work.

Step 7: resubmit your report in the Module Two Task forum, same thread as Step 4.
